Hello!
We are Mathew and Linda, co-owners of Brain Menders, an organization focused on helping others improve their cognitive capabilities. We have found that through the application of the right tools and instructional methods for a specific amount of time, improvement is possible.
The Winding Road
We have had the privilege of raising three sons. Of course, this privilege comes with injuries and events which stretched our knowledge and ability to teach. The Brain Menders story specifically pertains to our youngest son and our journey to his healing. During his instructional years he sustained a concussion which brought his learning activities to a complete halt. Through a series of Dr. appointments and various therapies with a team of six specialists (Nutrionalist, CogMed therapist, Educational Psychologist, Vision therapist, Physical therapist, Concussion Rehab Dr., and Quantum-energetics specialist) our son only began his recovery. Progress was seen, however, we realized that healing was only partial. His learning resumed but it was extremely difficult. The missing piece to complete restoration was still elusive until a friend told us of their experience with Equipping Minds. Although Equipping Minds seemed a reasonable program, we were still skeptical. It was hard for us to believe that this seemingly simple program would bring lasting benefits for our son. However, we decided to try Equipping Minds and we are so glad that we did! Our son’s ability to think, remember, and learn changed dramatically in a very short window of time.
The Destination
Soon his full educational slate resumed and He was able to participate again in many desired activities. A while later, we began another round of Equipping Minds Therapy Sessions. After a short time, we all concluded that our son’s progress in the program was already above the goal originally set, so we concluded this round early. Our son was very pleased with the outcome and we were and still are ecstatic with the process and results. This was an answer to prayer and it provided hope for our son and his future plans. In a short number of years, He graduated from High School and entered into the university to study Engineering. Another answer to prayer was his ability to study for long periods of time on complex mathematical models even years later. Currently, his university studies are going well, he has taken up city-league hockey, and has joined the State’s National Guard. It has been truly an answer to our prayers and is a daily delight to see him continue to thrive at each endeavor. Our purpose in starting this organization is to focus on helping others improve their cognitive capabilities. We believe this mentoring opportunity provides hope.
